The Open Base Station Architecture Initiative (OBSAI) and Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) wireless standards define the bus interface between the radio card and the baseband card in a base station system (BTS). Both initiatives introduce modularity to reduce BTS development costs by opening up base station architecture to third party suppliers.

Our CPRI and OBSAI LogiCORE IP are optimized for high-performance Virtex-5 LXT/SXT FPGAs. These wireless interface standards help drive down base station costs and lower power requirements while allowing customization, product differentiation, and easy updates for changing specifications.

OBSAI LogiCORE IP supports data rates of 768, 1536, and 3072 Mbps.
CPRI LogiCORE IP supports data rates of 614.4, 1228.8, and 2457.6 Mbps.
Both LogiCORE solutions allow a variety of sample widths and antenna-carrier configurations.

The RocketIO™ GTP transceivers in the 65-nm Virtex-5 LXT/SXT devices are compliant to OBSAI/CPRI specifications. The FPGA fabric can integrate standalone ASSP functions such as Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD), Crest Factor Reduction (CFR), Digital Up/Down Conversion (DUC/DDC) common to radio cards, and Random Access Channel (RACH), searcher, modulation, and symbol/chip-rate encoding/decoding common to baseband cards.
