Aligns incoming SONET/SDH frames and provides transport overhead processing, path overhead processing and pointer processing for contiguous concatenated SONET/SDH payloads types. Contains independent Transport Processor and Concatenated Path Processor modules with optional dedicated external ports for overhead insertion and extraction. Incoming/outgoing data is transferred at an STS-768c/STM-256 rate using an 256-bit data bus operating at 155.52Mb/s.

• Programmable auto insertion line/path RDI; diagnostics - force line/path AIS, LOS, RDI, frame corruption
• Saturating performance counters for B1/B2/B3 errors, OOF, REI; optional interrupts for signal degrade/signal fail
• Feature programmability can be easily optioned away for slice count reduction
