XUP Supported Boards

Xilinx University Program (XUP) supports an expanded range of hardware development systems to complement the classroom learning experience with hands-on learning in the laboratory using Xilinx technology. These boards span the range from low-end, cost-effective solutions ideally suited to introductory classes, to the mid-range platforms suitable for teaching and senior projects, and the high-end that very effectively serve the graduate research community, but in addition are extremely suitable to all levels of undergraduate study.

Current Boards

Board Name Brief Description
PYNQ-Z1 The PYNQ-Z1 is a low-cost board which supports the open-source project from Xilinx. PYNQ allows Python users to develop applications which can exploit the benefits of programmable logic and microprocessors in Zynq to build more capable and exciting embedded systems.
Digilent ZedBoard The Digilent ZedBoard™ is a low-cost development board for the Xilinx Zynq™-7000 All Programmable SoC (AP SoC). This board contains everything necessary to create a Linux and other OS/RTOS based design. Several expansion connectors allow access to both Processing System and Programmable Logic I/Os for easy user access.  This board is suitable for learning embedded design with an ARM based SoC.
Digilent ZYBO The Digilent ZYBO (Zynq Board) is a feature-rich, ready-to-use, entry-level embedded software and digital circuit development platform built around the smallest member of the Xilinx Zynq-7000 family, the Z-7010. When coupled with the rich set of multimedia and connectivity peripherals available on the ZYBO, the Zynq Z-7010 can host a whole system design. Additionally, six Pmod connectors are available to put any design on an easy growth path.
Digilent Nexys4 DDR The Digilent Nexys™ 4 DDR board, based on Artix-7 FPGA, brings unprecedented performance to a student-focused FPGA design kit. The board is suitable for introductory digital design to embedded processing courses. The high-capacity FPGA is complemented by generous on board memories, and a collection of USB, Ethernet, and a host of other peripherals.
Digilent Basys3 Digilent Basys™ 3 is an entry-level FPGA board designed exclusively for the Vivado Design Suite, featuring Xilinx Artix 7-FPGA architecture. The board consists of complete ready-to-use hardware, a large collection of on-board I/O devices, all required FPGA support circuits, and a free version of development tools and at a student level price point. It is well suited for digital design.

Legacy Boards

Board Name Brief Description
NetFPGA The NetFPGA platform enables researchers and students to build working prototypes of high-speed, hardware-accelerated networking systems. The board has been used in the classroom to teach students how to build Gigabit Ethernet switches and Internet Protocol routers that use hardware rather than software to forward packets.
Digilent XUPV5 The Digilent XUPV5™ Development Board (ML509) is a feature-rich unified platform, with on-board memory and industry standard connectivity interfaces, ideal for teaching and research. It features a powerful Virtex-5 XC5VLX110T FPGA. This board is well supported by ISE® Design suite and reference designs that demonstrate the use of the interfaces.
Digilent Genesys The Digilent Genesys™ Development Board provides Gigabit Ethernet and high-speed memory connectivity. It also has a LCD display, high-resolution audio & video circuits, a USB 2.0 connectivity, generous amounts of on board memory, a high speed connector along with a powerful Virtex-5 XC5VLX50T. The board is ideal for  both teaching and research.
Digilent Atlys The Digilent Atlys™ board is a complete, ready-to-use digital circuit development platform based on a Xilinx Spartan-6 LX45 FPGA. The on-board collection of peripherals, including 128Mbyte DDR2 DRAM, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI Video, and AC97 audio make the Atlys board an ideal host for complete digital systems built around the Xilinx MicroBlaze embedded processor.
Digilent Nexys 3 The Digilent Nexys™ 3 board is a digital system development platform that features the Spartan-6 FPGA, complemented by 48Mbytes of external memory (including two non-volatile phase-change memories from Micron), along with enough I/O devices and ports to host a wide variety of digital systems. The Nexys 3 is an ideal platform for academics wishing to gain experience with Xilinx technologies, and it is perfectly suited to digital design classroom projects.
