General Description: I have completely installed all tools, but they do not launch properly, and the following error is reported:
"ERROR Starting Program - The msvcrt.dll file is linked to missing export msvcrt.dll."
This issue appears during the installation of Foundation 4.1i or 3.1i software on a machine that is running Windows 98 (First or Second Edition.) The installation appears to complete, but the installer is not able to overwrite the msvcrt.dll file, which have may been in use at the time. This file is located in the c:\windows\system directory.
To resolve this problem:
1. Boot up in DOS mode.
2. If desired, make a backup of the old c:\windows\system\msvcrt.dll file.
3. Copy the msvcrt.dll file from the %xilinx%\.xinstall\config\redist\win98 directory into the c:\windows\system directory.
(NOTE: The .xinstall directory will appear as xinstall (no ".") in DOS mode. To get to it, change the directory [cd] to "xinsta~1".)
It may be necessary to boot Windows 98 in Command Mode in order to make this change. To do this, at the initial booting process, press and hold the "F8" key. You will then have the option to boot in a command line-only mode.
