If you are using Solaris 2.7 or 2.8 (Solaris 7 or Solaris 8), and you encounter this error when you invoke Design Manager (or try to invoke any other GUI application):
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
it is likely that you need to un-set the following environment variable as follows:
unsetenv LD_BREADTH 1
This solution is likely required if the "LD_BREADTH" variable had been previously set in order to resolve the bug in the dynamic linker provided by Sun Microsystems with Solaris 2.5.x/2.6.

Solaris 2.8 is not officially supported by 3.1i; however, it will be supported in the next major release.
